Linn K. Nelson1945 - 2013Linn K. Nelson, 68, passed away Sept. 30, 2013, at his home in Harper, Kans. He was born on Feb. 11, 1945, to Kenneth and Mary Jane (Sonn) Nelson, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He graduated from Kenosha High School in 1963.He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1968. He received his Associate of Arts Degree from American River College. Linn worked for the United States Post Office as an Electrical Maintenance Technician for 35 years until he retired. He loved sailing and once turned a canoe into a sailboat using his unique ingenuity. He loved cooking, fishing and hunting and loved to feed everyone. He was a beloved grandfather to Grace, Amelia, Oliver and Arlo and many other kids who needed a Grandpa. He loved visiting with those who were sick or under the weather and had a special place in his heart for the elderly and liked giving a hand where needed. He married his first wife, Janice Campolo in 1965 and had two wonderful sons. Fireworks sparked on July 4th, 1985 when he married the love of his life, Janis Knox, in Sacramento, California. Linn was active in the Harper VFW Post #11449, Anthony Masonic Lodge #200 A.F. & A.M., Anthony Kiwanis Club and Crystal Springs Mennonite Church. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Clark Nelson.He will be missed by his wife of 28 years, Janis Knox; his sons, Timothy Nelson and wife, Mandy of Culver City, Calif.; Mathew Nelson of San Francisco, Calif.; Damon Knox and his wife, Sally Knox of Sacramento, Calif.; daughter, Glynis Lumb and her husband Jeff of Portland, Ore.; five grandchildren; sister, Cheryl Kriederman and her husband Ken of Tuscon, Arizona; brother Rick Nelson of Oxford, Wis., mother-in-law, Myrl Roberson of Anthony, Kans., and a host of other relatives and friends. Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at Crystal Springs Mennonite Church with Josh Patterson presiding. Congregational hymns sang were Ill Praise my Maker, Be Thou My Vision, and Lift Your Glad Voices. Inurnment followed at the Crystal Springs Mennonite Cemetery with Masonic Rites provided by the Anthony Masonic Lodge #200 A.F. & A.M. and Military Honors provided by the Harper VFW Post # 11449. Memorials may be given in Linns name to the Crystal Springs Mennonite Church, Harper Senior Meals, or to Anthony Senior Citizens and sent in care of the funeral home.
