Linda Marie Winkels, age 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 2, 2023. 

Linda was born on October 31, 1948, in Bismarck, North Dakota to Michael and Margaret Schmidt. Her familymoved to Oregon in 1961. Linda met the love of her life, George Winkels, at the La Salle Club in 1967. Linda and George also met many of their life long friends at the La Salle Club. Linda married George on September 6, 1969,at St. Alice Church in Springfield Oregon.

For many years Linda enjoyed being a homemaker to her family. Before she retired, she worked as a bank teller andin the daycare for the Springfield School district. 

Linda loved her family. One of the biggest joys of her life was her grandchildren. She loved trips to the Oregon Coast, especially Winchester Bay, Florence and Yachats. She enjoyed camping. She loved going to Alton Baker Park to feed the ducks. She looked forward to annual fall trips to pumpkin patches with her grandkids. She loved the daily newspaper puzzles and gameshows.

Linda was a devoted Catholic, she prayed the rosary every day. She also enjoyed volunteering at her church. 

Linda was preceded in death by her father Michael Schmidt, her mother Margaret Schmidt and her sister Diane Whittington.

Linda is survived by her husband George Winkels, her daughter Michelle Dooley and son in law Michael Dooley of Yakima Washington, her daughter Melissa Green and son in law Jason Green of Incline Village Nevada, her grandkids Noah Dooley, Kayla Green, Keegan Dooley, Jackson Green and Emily Dooley, and her sister ShirleyMorris.

The funeral service will be held on February 17, 2023, at St. Alice Church in Springfield. There will be a Rosary at 11:30AM, a funeral service at 12:15PM followed by a reception.
