Lewis Neal SmiddyOak Ridge, TNLewis Neal Smiddy, 78, of Oak Ridge, TN, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Methodist Medical Center. He was born on July 10, 1938 in Briceville, TN to Walter Lewis Smiddy and Lola Elizabeth McAbee Smiddy. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving his country for 20 years. "Smiddy" was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Dee Nobles Smiddy, February 9, 2008; and by a brother, Jackie Lynn Smiddy. He is survived by his sons, Walter Lewis Neal Smiddy and Wife Sherry of Yorktown, VA, Robert Dean Smiddy and wife Jennifer of Knoxville, TN, and Billy Joe Smiddy and wife Cheryl of Cincinnati, OH; daughters, Cheryl Beasley and husband John and Deborah Sue Lee, all of Knoxville, TN; brothers, James Rodney Smiddy and wife Faye of Rossville, GA and Paul David Smiddy and wife Ruth of Oak Ridge, TN; 11 grandchildren, Melissa Sands, Angela White, Amber Smiddy, Tara Isabelle, Jared Smiddy, Elizabeth Smiddy, Sarah Catherine Smiddy, Nicole O'Donnell, Emily Crye, Chelsea Faulkner, Christian Cooper and 9 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 30, 2017 at Central Baptist Church from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. The funeral will follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Glenn Ellis officiating. Family and friends will meet on Tuesday, January 31 at Anderson Memorial Gardens for a graveside service at 10:00 AM. Military honors will be provided by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard.
