Leta Mae BarbeeAbilene, TX Leta Mae Barbee 87, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2017 in Abilene, TX. Funeral services will be 10:00AM, Monday, October 30, 2017 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. with Bill Hillier officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Merkel, TX. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the funeral home. Leta was born on November 6, 1929 in Coleman, TX to the late Thomas and Hattie Boyd Morton. She loved to cook and loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Leta also loved to threaten her children when they were younger with "I'll tell your Daddy !" She enjoyed playing 42 and mexican train with her friends at Lyndale. Leta was always asking what time it was and asking a million questions about her family. She wanted to be well informed. Preceding her in death were her parents, Thomas and Hattie Boyd Morton; and her husband, Charles D. Barbee. Survivors include her sons, Eddie Barbee and wife, Vikki of Tuscola, Donnie Barbee and wife, Dodie of Edmond, OK, and John Barbee and wife, Brandi of Abilene; her daughter, Diane Bell and husband, Eugene of Abilene; her brothers, Jim Sumrow and wife, Doris of Humble, TX and Tommy Coats and wife, Jean of Franklin, TN; her sister, Dorris Scott of Abilene; 15 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.You may view and sign the guestbook at www.elliotthamilfuneralhomes.com
