Leslie Gillmore1926 - 2014Leslie Gillmore, 88, a resident of Kenosha, passed away Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at St. Josephs Home in Kenosha.Les was born on May 21, 1926, to the late Leo and Anna Belle (Powell) Gillmore in Bristol Wis. In 1944, he graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School. Les worked at Twin Disc, Inc for 29 1/2 years. He was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts, RSVP Volunteer, Kenosha Public Museum Volunteer; St. Marys Lutheran Usher and was President of the Allemande Square Dance Club. He was a member of the Twin Disc 20 year club, on the Board of Directors of Lutherdale Bible Camp and was co-founder of P&G Linoleum & Tile. Les was also involved in Mission trips to Puerto Rico, Kenya and Tanzania, Christmas in April and Habitat for Humanity. On May 24, 1986, he married Carol A. Wellman. Les love for adventure led him to backpacking on the Appalachian Trail, horsepacking in the Colorado Mountains, white water rafting in Idaho and having visited all 50 states and 85 countries.Les is survived by his wife Carol, two sons David (Debbie) Gillmore and Randy (Crystal) Gillmore and two daughters Tammy Davies and Renee Groen. He is also survived by ten grandchildren Wendy (Justin) Martz, Beth (David) Vonk, Rhonda (David) Drager and Matthew (Hannah) Gillmore, James, Julie and Jacob Davies, Joshua (Autumn) Groen, Melissa and Brianna Groen and ten great grandchildren. He is further survived by two sisters, Leona (Roy) Krahn and Bethel (Richard) Krahn and one brother Wayne (Thelma) Gillmore and his friend Freda Gakii Nathan of Kenya.Funeral Services will be held on Sept. 4, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Marys Lutheran Church. (2001 80th Street) Visitation with the family will be on Sept. 4, at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place immediately following the funeral at South Bristol Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Marys Lutheran Youth Mission Trips or the Kenosha Public Museum would be appreciated.Les family would like to thank Dr. Joe Garretto, the 3 Palmer staff at Kenosha Hospital and the staff at St. Josephs Home and Rehabilitation Center for their excellent care and the compassion shown to Les and his family.
