Leroy Edwards, 73, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed on March 20, 2023. Leroy was born on February 14th, 1943, and is survived by a wife, betty, and 3 children: Leory jr. and Angela, Michael. He also had 7 loving grandchildren: Tyler, Marcus, jasmine, Anna, Dasean, Terry, Kathy, He also has adoring 3 great-grandchildren Mahlani, jade, Dekendrick.

Leory is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served honorably in the Marines, achieving the rank of Corporal of an all-African American battalion.

Leory's experience in the Marines played a very important role in his life. He frequently pointed out that the Marines taught him the value of discipline, teamwork, and investing in a cause larger than himself. He would often explain to loved ones how these values contributed to his success as a front-line fighter for equality for minorities in the south.
