Leona Mae BowmerJuly 28, 1935 - April 8, 2014Our beloved mother and grandmother, Leona Mae (Willey) Bowmer, 78, passed away April 8, 2014. She was born on July 28, 1935 in Grangeville, Idaho, and was the youngest daughter of Wilbur Roy C. and Roxie Lavina (Huntley) Willey. She had fond memories of childhood days on her family's farm in northern Idaho with her siblings. On June 1, 1957 she married Richard Bowmer in St. Maries, Idaho and began a family that she dearly loved. They spent the first three years of their marriage in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She left a nursing career to be a stay-at-home mom to her six children and considered them to be her greatest accomplishment. She cherished her seven grandchildren: Christina Phillips, Kayla, Tom, Aaron, Rachel and Daniel Hansen, and Sara (Hansen) Cummings, and loved spending time with her great-grandchildren, Kyle, Daisy and Rose Cummings. She will be remembered for her warm and fun personality, her ability to play the piano by ear, and devotion to the Dallas Cowboys and North Carolina Tarheels. She volunteered with many community organizations over the years including PTA, Girl Scouts and the Neighborhood Watch Executive Committee. She prized her association with her friends, the ladies of the ISU Faculty Women Sewing Club.
