Toelle, LawrenceLawrence Toelle, 95, died on Friday, March 17, 2017 at his home in the Town of Cleveland, Marathon County. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, Town of Cleveland, where the visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time at the church. Rev. Doris Ruben will officiate. Military rites will be conducted at the church, following the service, by the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #6352 of Stratford. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Sauter / Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Lawrence was born on May 10, 1921 in Marshfield to Henry and Louise (Schmid) Toelle and was a 1939 graduate of Stratford High School. He farmed with his parents until entering the service in August of 1942. He was assigned to the Army Air Force and attended mechanic schools in Lincoln, NE and Long Beach, CA. He served in airfields in Pecos, TX and Marianna, FL. World War II ended before being shipped overseas. He was honorably discharged January 1946 and returned to take over the family farm.After many family supper exchanges and being fellow classmates at Balsam Grade School, Larry married the true love of his life, Marjorie E. Gust, August 31, 1946 at Ebenezer E&R Church.Larry is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marjorie and their children, Lauren (Alfred) Schulz of Newton, Kansas and Mark (Helen) Toelle of Marshfield. He is also survived by 5 granddaughters and 9 great grandchildren. He is further survived by a brother George Toelle of Wausau and brother-in-law Wally (Pat) Gust of Milwaukee, sisters-in-law, Joyce Engel of Rice Lake, Phyllis (Gordon) Knutson of New Berlin and Edie Achee of Phoenix.He was predeceased by his parents, a son Stephen on December 28, 2009, a great granddaughter Emily Carlson and three sisters Elvera (Robert) Schulte\(Elmer) Reinke, Ellenora (Elmer) Reinke, Rose Marie (David) Meilahn. Also by in-laws Goldie (John) Stick, Edmund (Gertie) Gust, Bill (Irene) Gust, Red (Peg) Gust, Helen (Alvin) Kratzer, Fritz Engel and Paul Achee.Larry's family would like to thank Dr. Thorne and the staff of 6 North at Ministry St Joseph's Hospital for the loving care he received before going home.
