LaVonne D GriffinVentura, CALaVonne ?Bonnie? Griffin, 93, a resident of Ventura since 1985, peacefully passed away on Sunday morning, October 23, 2016 which was, coincidently, the birthdate of her true love and our father, William ?Bill? Griffin.She was a loving mother to her four sons, Gary, Wayne, Glenn and Kent, and grandmother to 6 grandchildren, and 5 beautiful great grandchildren. In addition she was devoted to her many pets over the years.LaVonne was born on January 25, 1923 to William and Hazel Drenske and resided in Cleveland, Ohio until 1960. LaVonne attended Shaw High School where she served on the entertainment committee responsible for lining up such acts as Frank Sinatra, Tommy Dorsey and a few other big bands for the Friday night dances. In 1960, LaVonne and Bill moved their family to Chatsworth, California where she raised her 4 boys before moving to Ventura where Bill passed away in 1988. After Bill?s passing, LaVonne served in the Buena High School cafeteria for a number of years, taught Bible study at the College Methodist Church and spent countless hours working on arts and crafts projects. She has left behind an extensive collection of angels.After a 28-year separation, LaVonne and Bill are dancing and singing together once again.A Memorial Service in celebration of Lavonne?s life will be held Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at College Methodist Church, 4300 Telegraph Road, Ventura, CA 93003.
