Laura Southerland, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on October 15, 2023, at her home in Atlanta, Georgia, after a brave battle with cancer. She was born on January 13, 1950, to her proud parents, Keith and Anna Southerland.
Laura captured the hearts of those around her with her infectious laughter, kind soul, and compassionate nature. Her loving presence made every room she entered brighter and every person she encountered feel valued and heard.
In 1976, Laura married her soulmate, Willard Southerland, and together they built a lifetime of beautiful memories. They were blessed with two adoring children, Chrisette and Aaron Southerland. Laura's love for her family knew no bounds, and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to their happiness and well-being.
As a doting grandmother to three precious grandchildren, Siani Southerland , Toriana Southerland and Joshua Lewis . Laura found immense joy in witnessing their growth and celebrating their achievements. Family gatherings were never complete without her infectious laughter, warm hugs, and famous homemade chocolate chip cookies.
Laura's education at Overbrook High School, where she graduated in 1967, laid the foundation for her career in nursing. She joined the Georgia State Organization as a nurse, where she diligently served her community, bringing comfort and care to those in need.
Although Laura's journey has come to an end, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering strength.
