Kristine "Madre" Kelly Kristine "Madre" Kelly (Peterson) died unexpectedly on April 21st, 2017 in Tacoma, WA at the age of 69. Kris is survived by her daughter Margret Kelly of Tacoma, WA. Kris was born on January 31st, 1948 to Margret and Donovan Peterson. She graduated North Central High School in 1966. She married William Kelly, a longtime family friend, in 1976. After moving to Tacoma, she began working for PD&T and continued to do so as the company transitioned to Arthur J. Gallagher. The couple welcomed one unexpected child, Margret (Maggie) Kelly, late in age. Kris set about teaching Maggie and Maggie's friends to never judge a book by its cover. Maggie and Kris' "adopted" children remember her as being understanding, giving, and an uplifting person who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Kristine was accomplished at keeping a high morale wherever she went, and was known for sneaking a joke into her witty writing, whether that be a birthday card or serious email to a coworker. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Church, with a reception to follow, on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at 11:00am. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kris' life.
