Kirk gave his life heroically in the early morning hours of July 21, 2013, while performing an act of mercy-attempting to save the lives of persons that were involved in a car accident. He was the life partner of 13 years and recent husband of 10 months to Cera Peterson; cherished and loved son of Barry and Selena Peterson; admired, respected, and loved brother of Vance, Brandon and Ryan; devoted Uncle of Kylie and Carson; and dear grandson of Tillie Lockshire. Kirk is also survived by his loving father and mother in-law, Ken and Lin Ball, by many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and cherished friends, including "The Boys" and last but not least, his loving pit bull "Prince". He attended Our Lady of Mercy Grammar School and graduated from Serra High School, class of 1998. While at Canada College, he was awarded 2 Gold Medals in Basketball at the Junior Olympic Pan Am Games in Costa Rica. Kirk excelled in and loved all sports. He was adventurous and curious about life, nature and experiencing people and cultures. He adored children and they would gravitate toward him. He was also a successful businessman, owning and operating Junk King San Jose with his best friend and partner Kevin Zouzounis.
