Kirby Ray "Punky" Johnson, 70MUNCIE - Kirby Ray (Punky) Johnson, 70, of Muncie, Indiana passed away peacefully at home on November 24, 2016 early Thanksgiving day, surrounded by his loving family.Kirby was born on December 19, 1945 in Muncie, Indiana. The son of Kirby Rolland and Lillian Jessie (Cook) Johnson.Kirby attended Muncie Southside and Central High Schools. He worked as a tool and die maker at Broderick's for twenty-five years, for Delaware County for ten years; holding several positions. He also worked for INDOT and retired after working there for ten years. Kirby was a life-long democrat and very active in politics. He was the Democrat Precinct Fifteen Committeeman as well as Vice President of the Democrat Rooster Booster's. Kirby attended Full Gospel Temple Church. During his retirement, Kirby enjoyed fishing and was an avid woodworker. Kirby also enjoyed spending time with his family, going on vacations with life-long friends John E. and Margie Landers, and working with his beloved dog Minnie-Mae, training her to do tricks.Kirby is survived by his wife of fifty years, Jane Anne (Casada) Johnson; four sons, Kirby Randal (wife Dawn), Kevin Ray (wife Sarah), Keith Ryan (wife Jaime), Kyle Robert (wife Tammy) all of Muncie; fourteen grandchildren, Beth, Dane, Cary, Clair, Mallorie, Morgan, Baylee, Mekayla, Konner, Kylee, Kiara, Kayla, Kody, Kayden; two great-grandchildren, Preslee and Parker; brothers-in-law, Raymond Hicks, Robert Steele, Timothy Steele; sister-in-law, Mary Rollins; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wilkie F. Johnson; sister, Joyce Ann Hicks; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Johnson and Patty A. Pariseau.Services will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Full Gospel Temple with Rev. Denny Helton officiating. Friends and family may call Friday, December 2, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Parson Mortuary. The family would like to express special thanks to the I.U.
