Steffan, Kerry MargaretKerry Margaret (Weir) Steffan, age 42, passed away at Agrace Hospice in Madison, WI on January 14, 2017 after a 42-month battle with the worst type of brain cancer. Through that time her courage, character & humor never faltered. She was an inspiration to all who knew her or read her caringbridge posts.She was born on February 10, 1974, to Jeffery and Maggie (Marshall) Weir in Door County, WI. Kerry graduated from Southern Door High School in 1992 and the University of Wisconsin - Madison with majors in Wildlife Ecology and Entomology.At UW she met Shawn Steffan, who was acquiring a Master Degree in Entomology, and they married on 9/30/2000. They worked in California, Utah, and Washington State before moving back to Madison, where she worked in the Madison School System until Struck with the cancer.Kerry has been described as strong, loving, smart, funny, giving, caring, creative, and was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, family member and friend. She is survived by her husband Shawn and children, Nadia and Elliot, of Madison. She is also her survived by her parents; her mother-in-law, Marge Lifschultz, CA; her brother, Kyle Weir (Angie Stiemsma), and their children Izzy and Lily, all of Minneapolis; and her sister, Katy (Troy) Rass, and their children, Cody, Cameron, Autumn and Caleb, all of Door County. There will be a memorial service in Madison at a later date.
