It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth Hayes, Sr., who was born on March 11, 1956 to Floyd “KC and Ida B. Hayes left this world on January 16, 2026. Kenneth resided in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania his entire life where he lived a life filled with laughter, love, and a passion for collecting swords.
Kenneth was a dedicated student who graduated from South Philadelphia High School in 1974. He continued his education at the Art Institute of Philadelphia, where he honed his artistic talents and graduated in 1986. Kenneth went on to pursue a career as a Private Chef, delighting friends and family with his culinary creations until his retirement in 2003.
On Tuesday February 7, 1978 KC and his longtime girlfriend Annise Jones had their one and only child Christopher Hayes, Jr. KC and Chris, Jr (CJ) were known as the troublemakers as CJ got older.
In 1996 KC got to experience one of his proudest moments as he watched his son graduate from Parkway Northwest High School in Mt. Airy
On February 18, 2008 KC got his one wish from his son when his grandson Jabriel Alexander Singleton was born.
Outside of his work, KC had a deep love for collecting swords. His impressive collection was a testament to his appreciation for history and craftsmanship. With each new addition, Kenneth's eyes would light up with excitement, and he would proudly display his finds to anyone who would listen.
Unfortunately, KC’s life was cut short by pancreatic cancer. Despite the adversity he faced in his final days, he remained strong and resolute, determined to savor every moment with his loved ones.
Although Kenneth is no longer with us, his legacy lives on through his son, Christopher Hayes, Jr., and stepdaughter Tiffany Lewis his four sisters and one brother Janey, Jeanie, Michelle, Anita and Timmy. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and his love for swords will forever inspire those who shared in his passion.
