Surrounded by loved ones, Ms. Kayla ("Kay") Legan Martin passed away on January 6, 2018.

In life, she was intelligent and kind. She loved listening to and creating music and was commonly known to awaken in the middle of the night with a song fully formed in her subconscious. She adored her family, and their protection remained her highest priority even as internal demons threatened to overtake her. Her family is relieved that her creative spirit is no longer subject to earthly constraints.

Left to mourn her loss are her daughter, Sophia, and her brother, Larry; as well as, several nieces and nephews.

Her life will be celebrated in a private memorial at the family home in Waco, TX on January 9, 2018, with an interment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations made in her name to the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation in order to improve the lives of others affected by bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
