Kathyrn LongKnoxville, TNKathyrn L. Long, age 89, of South Knoxville, passed into the arms of her Heavenly family on Tuesday, September 27, 2016. She was a member of Meridian Baptist Church. Kathyrn was born on January 1, 1927 to Myrtle R. Gross and John D. Couch. She was an avid bowler, square dancer, and one of the top Avon Lady sellers in the nation. In her neighborhood, she was always known for her beautiful yard. She had a green thumb and could grow anything. Kathyrn was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 65 years, Jesse H. Long, Sr.; granddaughter, Samantha M. Long; son-in-law, Edwin W. Sear; sister, Virginia J. Smith; half-brother, Gene Howard; brothers-in-law, Cecil Mathis, Keith Sherrill, and James Stephens; and sister-in-law, Sylvia Couch. She is survived by her children who she loved unconditionally, Shirley A. Sear, Carol Long Morrissey (Gary), Johnny D. Long (Tia), and Jesse H. "Butch" Long, Jr.; grandchildren, Leah Sweat, Jennifer Walters (Chad), Zachary Sear, Shana Adjetey (David), Nicholas Morrissey, Kate Morrissey, Cayley Needham, and Mia Needham; great-grandchildren, Joel Elliott, Thomas "Tres" Elliott, Grayson Walters, Josie Walters, Annabelle Adjetey, Kamaize Adjetey, Philip Ellis, Ariella Ellis, Isabella Ellis, and Skylar Wrather; brothers, James "Jim Couch, David Couch and wife Connie; sisters, Anna Mathis, Eugenia "Jean" Sherrill, Nancy Robertson and husband Gay, and Mary "Snookie" Stephens; special adopted family members, Julie Avola and Gerry Miller; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. She will be missed, but we rest in the hope, faith, and belief that we all will be together again. Family will receive friends on Friday, September 30, 2016 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway.
