MYERS, Kathryn "Katy" Margaret Kathryn "Katy" Margaret Myers, beloved Mother, Sister, Daughter, Aunt and Friend, has passed away peacefully on October 30, 2016 in La Verne, CA. Katy was born on August 8, 1929 in Lima, Ohio to Christopher and Margaret Smith. She is survived by her sister Josephine Patterson of Clinton, MS, three children, Linda (Charles) Fallon, Susan Carter, and John Myers. Katy had four grandchildren, Josh (Ashley) Fallon, Patrick Fallon, Brian Fallon and Catharine (Gabie) Carter. She had two great-grandchildren, Madi and Charli Fallon, a close "Mom" relationship with Yvonne Fitzpatrick and James Carter, and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband James Myers, and her son Mark Myers. Katy grew up in Lima, Ohio, went to Bowling Green University in Ohio, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Business Education in 1951, and married Jim two weeks later. Katy and Jim moved out to California in 1961, with Linda, Susan and Mark, and John on the way. Katy and her family made a home in Walnut for many years. Katy was a homemaker, then began her career at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 1972, working her way up from Secretary to Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Engineering, retiring in 1992 and earning Staff Emeritus. She moved to Hillcrest Homes in La Verne in 2007, and enjoyed many happy years there. Services will be at Hillcrest Homes, 2705 Mountain View, La Verne, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 7th, with graveside service at Riverside National Cemetery. Katy was a happy, delightful, fun-loving, funny, and intelligent, beautiful person, who loved her family and friends very much. She enjoyed Laguna Beach, trips to Mississippi to see her sister and family, and also traveled to Alaska, Florida, and home to Ohio. She enjoyed her crossword puzzles, game shows, and sports, but most especially her family and friends. She will be missed so much by everyone. We will miss you, we love you, and rest in peace with the Lord.
