It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kathleen Marie Doucette (Hughes-Bauernschmidt) who left this world on January 9, 2026 in Denver, CO at the age of 80 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. She was born on September 10, 1945 in Tenafly, NJ to Edward Preston and Evelyn Marie Hughes.
Kathy leaves behind a loving family, including her two children, Janet Marie Zahl and Bill Bauernschmidt, Jr. and four cherished grandchildren: Kylie Marie Zahl, Trevor Zahl, Brendan Bauernschmidt & Collen Bauernschmidt. She will be deeply missed by them all.
She attended St. Cecilia Catholic Primary/High School in Teaneck, NJ and after graduation continued with secretarial school in NYC. Kathy then went on to be a successful Executive Assistant for numerous companies as she moved all around the US to help support her husband’s career. She was known for her professionalism and perfectionism in all that she did, while also carrying the responsibilities of being a full time mother and homemaker.
Throughout her life, Kathy was also known for her keen Irish wit, wry sense of humor, stylishness and deep love of animals, especially dogs with whom she found great comfort with over the years. She was a homebody who enjoyed reading and sewing. A private, family memorial service will be held in Boulder, CO.
May Kathy, aka Mom/Nana, rest in peace, knowing that she will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. ☘️ 🌈 💜
