Karin Katrina Forrest (Trine), 69, of Ventura, passed away on September 10, 2012, in Ventura Community Hospital.

Trine was born on February 17, 1943, and grew up in Bekkelaget, in Oslo, Norway; her parents were Otto and Kari Staib.

In addition to her husband, Jim, she leaves behind two brothers, Bjorn, and Trygve; one sister, Kirsti, who lives in Wisconsin; and two sons, Tom Kaare and Hans Kristian; and a daughter Kathrine Gabrielsen, who all live in Oslo. Trine loved her family, especially her seven grandchildren, Joakim, Nicolai, Karin Helene, Emily Assunta, Indiane Cecilie, Karen Elise and Christian Elias.

Trine believed nothing was impossible, and lived a life of excitement that would have frightened most people. She experienced everything from flying airplanes to scuba diving with mixed gases. She loved skiing, sailing, hiking, fast cars and good food and wine. Trine had a unique talent for making a lifelong friend out of someone she met only five minutes before. She departed this world with the same courage she had demonstrated throughout her life.
