We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Karen Garrett, born on August 8, 1956, in Delaware City, Delaware, United States. She passed away on February 20, 2026. Karen was the beloved daughter of Joshua and May Garrett. She long term committed to Karen Ames in the year 15. Together adopted and they were blessed with 6 children: Joshua Hunt (deceased in 2001), Amiya Garrett, Jessica Lowe, Peteika Bowlding, Diana Wilkins, and Daniel Nathan. She also leaves behind 1 grandchild.

Karen attended Paul Laurence Dunbar High School and continued her education at Howard University. She dedicated her career to Collective Architecture and retired in 2014. Karen was also known for her volunteer work at the Boys & Girls Club organization. Encouraging showing youth how to balance life, persevere at all limits.

Outside of work, Karen had many hobbies that brought her joy. She loved traveling, collecting art, gardening, fishing, and playing spades with her loved ones.

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Karen, who fought bravely against a brain tumor. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
