A life lived in service to all be loved

Julio Espana, beloved husband, father, and jokester, shuffled off this mortal coil on July 22, 2023, in Eugene, Oregon. Born on June 29, 1957, Julio brought laughter and joy to all who knew him.

Julio was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Juanita Espana, who clearly had a knack for naming their children after famous soccer players. In 1985, he married the love of his life, Robin Espana, who Julio affectionately referred to as his "partner in crime" and "the only person who could put up with me for more than a week."

Together, Julio and Robin raised three remarkable children who continue to make their parents proud. Lee Espana, the eldest, inherited his father's quick wit and sarcasm, making family dinners a constant stand-up comedy show. Emmy Espana, the middle child, followed in her father's footsteps and became a professional prankster, ensuring that their home was filled with laughter at all times. And then there's Bobby Espana, the youngest, who Julio often referred to as his "mini-me," although his height surpassed his father's long ago.

Julio's educational journey had its fair share of twists and turns. He graduated from Tracy High School in 1974, where his teachers often shook their heads at his witty remarks in class. Julio then embarked on a wild ride through Delta College, relishing in the chaos that only college can bring.

Throughout his life, Julio pursued various career paths, finally finding his calling in massage therapy. His hands were magical, and his clients always left feeling relaxed and wondering how someone so hilarious could also be so good at their job.

But perhaps one of Julio's most notable achievements was his time served in the army. Stationed in various locations around the world, Julio's fellow soldiers remember him as the guy who could turn any tense situation into a hilarious anecdote. He truly embodied the belief that laughter is the best medicine... except maybe for antibiotics.

Regrettably, Julio was taken from us too soon due to heart disease. Apparently, even a heart full of laughter needs some TLC every now and then. However, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones and the countless lives he touched with his humor and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you find someone who needs a good laugh and brighten their day, just as Julio would have done. As he once said, "Life's too short to be serious all the time, especially when we have so many opportunities to be delightfully ridiculous."

Rest in peace, Julio. May your punchlines echo through the halls of eternity, bringing joy to all who hear them.
