Smith, Judith 'Judy' Nov. 23, 1939 - Dec. 17, 2015 Judith 'Judy' Smith died on December 17, 2015 at the Hospice House in Venice, FL. She passed sleeping peacefully cradled in the arms of her true love with her family at her side. Judy was born on November 23, 1939 to Daniel & Marion Brown in Springfield, MA. She took college classes at several universities and decided on a career in the newspaper industry. Initially she began working for the Cape Cod Times. In 1986 she & her family moved to Florida. She retired from the North Port Sun Times as the editor of the paper when she was 55. While she enjoyed her work, her true passion was for her home & family. An adventurous spirit, Judy traveled the world with her husband of forty years, Dr. Clifford Smith. They returned to Florida to stay in 2005. She had developed a love of international food. Her kitchen was always filled with wonderful & deliciously exotic smells. Her door was always open to family & friends and she made sure everyone got fed. Judy is survived by her husband, Clifford; her three children Jeff, Jeanna, & Jenie; numerous grand/great grandchildren; and dog, Pepper. Judy's favorite place was her home, and a memorial service will be held for her there. She will be buried at sea in a small, private ceremony.
