JUANITA MAXINE 'BARNEY' RILEY, 91 HANOVER - Juanita Maxine "Barney" Riley was a selfless, giving person who always put others before herself. She entered into heaven at the age of 91 on Friday, November 22, 2013 at home in Hanover, Illinois. Barney was born on June 7, 1922, the daughter of John R. and Minnie Lee (Guy) Hume in California, Missouri. She married Arble "Harold" Dunham in 1944 and was a homemaker until Harold passed away in an automobile accident in 1962. After Harold's death Barney went to work for Jo-Carroll Energy. On April 3, 1970 she married James "Jim" Riley and left Jo-Carroll to take care of their family. Jim passed away September 20, 2013 in Dubuque, Iowa. Barney enjoyed sewing and reading. She was a kind-hearted individual toward people and animals. She always made sure the animals were fed and taken care of before she was. Barney loved her family and her grandchildren. She was extremely close to her great-grandchildren; they meant the world to her. Barney will be dearly missed by her two sons, Michael (Sally) Dunham of Foley, Alabama, and David Dunham of Clinton, Iowa; six grandchildren, Shelly (Scott) Griswold, Michael Dunham, Jennifer (Jim) Terry, Mindy Dunham-Henkins, Darcy Dunham and Lindsay (Jim) Martin; ten great-grandchildren, Andrew, Morgan, Hayley, Madelyn, Madison, Alec, Mallory, Willie, Cooper and Alasdair; one great-great-grandson, Connor; a number of nieces and nephews who meant a great deal to her; and special friends, Charlie Henkins and Sharon Kessler. Barney is preceded in death by her husbands, Harold, Jim; a son, Pete; two sisters, Emma, Delta and two brothers, Earl and John R. A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the Hanover United Methodist Church in Hanover. Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial of Barney's and Jim's cremated remains will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, December 6, 2013 at Flag Springs Cemetery in California, Missouri.
