Celebrating the life of Juan Lamont Gibson Sr. who came into the World on April 24th,1973 in Detroit Michigan. Juan aka Masseo, Big Mase or Sweetness was raised by his loving Grandmother Virginia Gibson, whom he affectionally called Grandma Penny. Many who knew Juan often wondered where he got his demeanor, toughness and gentleness from; you can attribute those traits to his Granny. On October 22nd 2025 Juan departed this World.

A gentle Giant who could make his way into your heart with a joke, a smile or a sentimental gift during the Holidays. Mase was a jokester, Steeler Hater and all around good dude. In 2009 Mase landed in Pittsburgh Pa and got a job at Earl the Pearls. After a short year he then gained employment with Denise (whom he would later refer to as Boss) at Denise and Earls. For the next 15 plus years until his untimely death, Mase was employed by Denise and Earls. Year after year Mase kept all who entered Denise and Earls safe. He was loved by many but the last thing you wanted was to step up the bar door and see him shaking his head, letting you know you couldn't enter.

A graduate of Central High in Detroit, Mase immediately put his size to work as he protected entertainers and sports athletes across the Country. If you had the pleasure of talking to him away from work you'd be shocked to learn he loved Gospel music. A lover of music , he'd be quick to belt out a tune and you better not tell him he ain't sound good. Mase loved the holidays and if you was blessed with a Christmas calendar or a heart sticker during Valentines Day you been touched by Sweetness.

He leaves behind his son Juan Lamont Gibson Jr., Daughter Aphree Crenshaw and three grandkids; Milani, Mekhi and Alyzah. A dedicated father and grandpap Mase loved his kids. To the countless people he encountered over the years, he was loved. Although we may feel cheated by his early passing, he left us all with plenty of memories to help us get through this hard time. So once you shed some tears, smile and know he's watching from High Above.
