Joyce Rveta Lett DodsonRobert LeeJoyce Rveta Lett Dodson passed away Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, in Robert Lee, Texas, at the beautiful age of 92. The youngest of 10 children, Joyce was born on the family farm in Runnels County, Texas, on May 1, 1925. As a child, Joyce asked Jesus into her heart and was baptized in the creek nearby. A longtime member of the Robert Lee Baptist Church, Joyce Dodson and Coach Kenneth Rasco together taught many three-year olds in Sunday School, always with a big supply of juice and crackers.Our mother, Joyce, a unique, strong, independent lady, raised four children in Robert Lee. She loved and worked hard to provide for her family, giving her all to their welfare. Outspoken and honest, she was known to express her opinion freely whether you asked for it or not. Joyce, Mother, Mimi, Aunt Joyce, good friend- family and friends knew her as their rock. She always made time for both, often using her cooking skills to provide meals and special treats like apple smiles and stuffed peppers. An Avon Lady for 50 years, she said she didn't sell Avon, she just "took orders".Mimi loved hearing of her grandchildren's accomplishments and relished stories of her great-grandchildren's escapades. She enjoyed word find puzzles and reading, but her great love was shopping. She called it her "therapy" and running shoes were her passion, in every color of the rainbow. If you have a pair of favorite running shoes, the brighter the better, please join the family in wearing them Friday to celebrate her life.When asked how she was, she would answer "almost perfect" and that is how we would like her to be remembered. Mother spent her last few years in Robert Lee Care Center where she made many friends, both fellow residents and families and counted her caregivers as special friends. With grateful hearts, we thank you all.Joyce is survived by her daughters Mary Beth Dodson and Marsha Wink and husband Robert, all of Robert Lee; son Vic Dodson and wife Bonnie of Roswell, New Mexico; grandchildren Jason (Mattie) Wink of The Colony, Lori (Matt) McDonald of Leander, Anthony (Misty) Wink of San Angelo, Cassidy Wink of Austin, Kye Paul Dodson, Lee (Paige) Dodson and Kasey (Paul) Hanna, all of Roswell, New Mexico; and 10 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her son, Rusty Dodson; her parents, Marshall Farmer Lett and Annie Loraine Gill Lett; two brothers; and seven sisters.Pallbearers are her grandsons and friends of the family.In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Robert Lee Baptist Church, Robert Lee Care Center or .Visitation is all day Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m at Shaffer Funeral Home in Robert Lee.
