Joyce Earleen Maxwell Obituary

Sep 26, 1947 - Jan 21, 2019

This obituary is administered by:

Revelation 21:4 "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

Joyce Maxwell was a woman of ambition. She lived a joyful life making it as for filling as she knew it to be. Always on the go, she never wasted a moment of time. Although she traveled most of her early years, Joyce refused to settle down permanently away from her birthplace. The Greyhound bus was her favorite method of travel (We know they knew her by name). If you were looking for Joyce Maxwell, you really would have to catch her when you could.

Joyce was born in Detroit, Michigan to her parents, Christopher Columbus Maxwell & Lucinda Shazier Maxwell. She was raised by her stepmother, Rosetta Maxwell, in her very early childhood years, who preseeded her in death. She grew up on the East side of Detroit, Michigan and attended Southeastern High school. She married relatively young and traveled abroad giving her children a greater outlook on life.

She had many many siblings; especially sisters, that she credited her great sense of style too. This is because she often bragged about how she as a teenager stole their cloths. Her excuse was that she wanted to look just as “sharp” as they did. The word “sharp” was her favorite word when expressing how wonderful something looked to her. The QVC channel was her network station of choice. Let’s hope those packages reach her final resting destination.

Attending church profusely as a child she swayed away from religion as an adult but never losing her faith in God. She regained her studies in the resurrection as she occasionally accompanied her brother Wiley Maxwell to the Kingdom Hall.

Joyce left this life to be with the Lord on January 21, 2019. She leaves to carry her legacy two children, Charles Mccutchen, Towalome Mccutchen-Hoskins (Malcolm) & a stepson Cory Faulkner. Eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. Two sisters: Edra Maxwell, Patricia Maxwell. Three brothers: Cephus Mills (Bernice), Curtis Maxwell (Cleo), Wiley Maxwell (Gwen). A host of nieces and nephews (special friend Ms. Louis).

Joyce was preceded in death by one son Donyell Mccutchen, a granddaughter Mohaganey Mccutchen, two sisters: Pauline & Annie Ruth, three brothers: Edward, Columbus & Theodore Maxwell.

Let us all rejoice in remembering her humble spirit and laughter. Her memories will thrive throughout the years. Joyce Maxwell will be truly missed ❤️
