Joyce AbernathyClarksville, TNJoyce Abernathy, 78, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at her residence. She was the loving wife of the late Freddie Jones Abernathy who passed away July 23, 2015.Joyce was born on December 5, 1938, in Montgomery County, TN, daughter of the late Jones Stewart "Dick" Roberts and Louise Bell Morrison Roberts. Joyce was preceded in death by a sister, Bettye Roberts Harrison; brother-in-law, Howard J. Abernathy; sisters-in-law, Julia Ussery and Hazel Abernathy Morris; and nephews, Gregory Britton Morris and Scott Alan Thomas.She was retired from banking, where she worked 40 years. She was a devoted member of Salem United Methodist Church and the Adult Fellowship Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women.Joyce was the loving wife of Freddie Abernathy for over 58 years. Survivors are the sisters-in-law, Charlene Abernathy Thomas and Mozelle Abernathy; nephew and caregiver, Phillip (Nancy) Morris; great nephew, Alex Morris; great niece, Charsley (Cody) Covington, Connor and Cayden Covington; along with other nieces and nephews.Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen Sauls officiating. Burial will be at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
