We mourn the passing of Joseph Lipsey, born on 03/08/1936 in New York, New York, United States, to loving parents Thomas and Susan. He was married to Margaret in 1960 and they had two children, Matthew and Walker.
Joseph dedicated his life to serving others as a healthcare professional at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, where he worked until his retirement in 2007. He was a longtime volunteer with Doctors Without Borders and the American Heart Association, and he founded a free neighborhood clinic in Harlem to provide care for underserved families. His selfless contributions earned him accolades including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American College of Cardiology and the Columbia University Distinguished Alumni Medal.
Outside of his professional life, Joseph had a deep love for classical piano, reading history, attending Yankees games, and taking long walks in Central Park.
Joseph Lipsey passed away on 09/03/2025 after a brave battle with cancer. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, generosity, and dedication to improving the lives of others. He will be deeply missed by his family and his six grandchildren.
