Mr. Joseph D. Whetstone, Sr, 81, of Lake City, Fl died Wednesday morning, March 19, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Gainesville. He was born on November 9, 1932 in Eclectic, Alabama. He was a veteran of the Navy. He was stationed in Jacksonville, FL moving to Lake City later. In 1975 he as baptisted in Jehovah's Witness. Mr. Whetstone is survived by his wife Julia Whetstone, three sons; Joe Whetstone Jr., Tallahassee, Fl, Edwin Whetstone (Dorothy) Jacksonville, FL, James Whetstone, one adopted son Charles Wilkinson (Shay) Whiting, IN. Two daughters Lydia Whetstone of Lake City, FL and Kim Anderson of Chesapeake, VA. One sister Mary (David) Edwards and one brother Bryant Whetstone both in Alabama. 8 grandchildren; Kristy, Marie, Lizzy, Joseph, John, Becky, Daniel and Jonathan. And one great-grandson, Kason. And a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service for Mr. Whetstone will be on March 29, at 1PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses by Roy Lamb.
