Josefina J. NaredoABILENE, TXJosefina J. Naredo, 74, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Wesley Court Senior Living Center after a long illness. A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 AM Saturday, November 19, 2016, at the True Light Global Ministries, 1164 Minter Lane, Abilene, TX 79603.Josefina (Fina) was born on February 15, 1942 in Havana, Cuba, the daughter of Drs. Jose; and Rita Naredo. She graduated from Instituto Pre-Universitario del Vedado, Havana, Cuba in 1961. She earned a bachelor's degree in foreign languages from McMurry University in 1970 and a master's degree in Spanish and French from Stephen F. Austin University in 1971. Her love of learning led her to do post-graduate work at the Universite de Montreal, Montreal, Canada in 1984, and in 1989 at the University of North Texas, Denton, Texas.She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and an inspiration to all who witnessed her courage as she faced a lifelong battle with rheumatoid arthritis. A dedicated teacher, she found great joy in seeing her students learn and her kindness and patience were deeply appreciated. For 39 years she was an integral part of the faculty at Cisco College, an institution which she dearly loved and in which she felt at home. She belonged to many professional organizations including the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese, Texas Community College Teachers Association, Sociedad Nacional Hispanica Sigma Delta Pi, and Alpha Mu Gamma (National Collegiate Foreign Language Honor Society).She is preceded in death by a sister, Teresa (Naredo) Ceballos, and parents, Drs. Jose; and Rita Naredo.Josefina is survived by sisters, Herminia (Naredo) Villaverde of Barcelona, Spain, and Rita (Naredo) Latimer of Richardson, TX; two brothers, Juan Naredo, and Jose; Naredo both of Abilene; and many nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the , , 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or a .
