With sad hearts we share that Jon Arthur Wortner passed away suddenly on September 14, 2016 in El Paso, Texas. He was born on May 10, 1982 in El Paso. A memorial service has been held with family and close friends. Jon stated when he was a teenager that he wanted to be a student forever. Jon graduated from El Paso High School in 2000 and from El Paso Community College in 2003. He graduated from New Mexico State University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences. He worked as a tutor in many subjects while in college and he became a graduate assistant while working on his graduate degree at NMSU. He taught math at EPCC from 2011 until this year. Jon will always be remembered for his love of family, friends, math and baseball, especially the Dodgers. He is survived by his mother, Carol Wortner (Jim Hansen) of Las Cruces, his father David Wortner (Sunny) of Rio Rancho, his brothers Eric Wortner (Erica) of El Paso, and Scot Wortner (Jazmine) of Austin, and his grandmothers, Jo Rogers of El Cerrito, California, and Pat Wortner of Richmond, California.
