Jon L. LaytonMasonJon L. Layton, 77 of Mason, MI passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016, surrounded by his family and under the care of Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home in Jackson, MI. He was born on May 17, 1939 the son of the late Leland C. and Audrey A. (Austin) Layton.  On January 21, 1978 he married Jane E. Julian in Hudson, MI.  She survives.  Mr. Layton graduated from Leslie High School in 1957.  He served 4 years with honor in the United State Air Force.  He retired in 1995 after working 29 years for Consumers Power Company.Jon had a love of aviation since early childhood.  He loved building and flying radio controlled airplanes.  He and his wife and son spent many enjoyable hours at the flying field.  He was a member of the Jackson Radio Control Club and the Lansing C.A.R.D.S. R/C Club.  In 1983 he obtained his Private Pilot license and loved flying his Piper Cherokee looking down at the world from above.  He had many other activities throughout the years.  He was active in Go Kart and Mini Sprint car racing and on his Cat dozer moving dirt from one place to another. In addition to his wife, Jon is survived by his children; Scott (Cathy) Layton of Grand Ledge, MI and Teresa (John) Karamigios of Lakewood, CO.; 5 grandchildren; Michelle, Kristina (Travis), Dean (Brenna), Adam and Josh; 2 great-grandchildren, Logan and Evelyn; and his sister, Sharon Strouse of Mason, MI. Arrangements by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Ball Dunn Chapel, 621 S.
