John Richard "Dick" BowmanMr. John Richard "Dick" Bowman, age 79, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017 in Cox South Hospital, Springfield, Missouri. He was born on November 8, 1937 in Springfield, Missouri, the son of the late Richard Galbraith and Geneva B. (Atwill) Bowman.Dick was united in marriage to Donna Jo Dodson on December 27, 1957, and they were blessed with almost 45 years of marriage before her death on September 5, 2002. They had made their home in Republic, Missouri since 1988.Dick attended the Central Assembly of God Church, in Springfield, until his health failed.He was an excellent photographer; loved camping and fishing; and enjoyed tooling leather and polishing gems to make jewelry. Dick was a member of the coin club in Springfield; and was Santa Claus many years for the Republic Kiwanis Club Christmas parade.Dick is survived by two daughters, Debra Jo "Debi" Bowman, Republic, and Teresa Dawn "Teri" and husband John Quin Beckelheimer, Helotes, Texas; two sisters, Betty Stovall, Ash Grove, Missouri, and Kathy Wacker, Durham, North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.A visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017 in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m. in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Springfield.
