While living in Leesburg, VA, he was a crop and cattle farmer. In 2005, John and his family moved from his farm in Leesburg, VA, to a farm west of Cole Camp, where he raised both crops and cattle. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Sedalia, Agape Sunday School Class, Missouri Farm Bureau, Missouri Corn Growers Association, American Soybean Association, and a lifetime member of the NRA. His interests also included tractor pulls, farms shows and being outdoors.

He is survived by: his wife, Wendy Myers of the home; a daughter, Sarah Michelle Myers of the home; a son, John Clifford "JC" Myers of Cole Camp; and two brothers, G. Shirley Myers, Jr. and Kathy of Macon, GA, and Lewis Shumate Myers of Leesburg, VA.
