John Hilary Lucas, Jr.John Hilary Lucas Jr., 95, Springfield, Missouri, passed away at 4:00 p.m. on July 17th, 2017 at the family home in Springfield surrounded by his loving family. John was preceded in death by Bernadette, his loving wife of 65 years. John is survived by 8 children - Daniel, Patrick, Constance, Robert, Paul, James, William, and Carolyn, 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.John was born on May 22, 1922 in East Greenwich, RI, the younger of two children born to Florence and John Lucas Sr. After serving in U. S. Army Air Corps in WW II, John attended and graduated from St. Louis University with a B. S. degree and later earned a Master's degree from Drury College. John enjoyed a 25 year career with the US Postal Service in Springfield. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed immediately by funeral mass on Friday, July 28th, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1609 North Summit in Springfield.In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be sent to The Kitchen, Inc., 1630 N. Jefferson Ave., Springfield, MO 65803 ( TheKitchenInc.org, 417.837.1500), which John served on the Board of Directors for several years.
