It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Gooden on September 19, 2022. Born on September 24, 1960, to loving parents Jane Gooden and Hubert Merritt in Bronx, New York, John brought joy and laughter wherever he went.

John left a great gift behind which was his children. Fatimah, John, Johnia. Which then gave him the greatest gift of being a grandfather of Anthony, Ziyah, Talajah, Aaliyah and Barry.

John had an infectious smile that could brighten even the gloomiest of days. His sense of humor was legendary, and he could turn any situation into a memorable and hilarious moment. Whether it was a witty one-liner or a perfectly timed prank, John had a unique ability to make everyone around him burst into laughter.

Always the life of the party, John loved to gather his friends and family for lively celebrations and get-togethers. His fondness for telling amusing stories and recounting his adventurous escapades made every event a truly unforgettable experience. Whether it was his tales of travel or his misadventures in cooking, John's anecdotes never failed to entertain.

John's zest for life extended beyond just his humor. He was a compassionate and caring individual who would go out of his way to help others. Whenever a friend or family member needed a shoulder to lean on or a listening ear, John was always there with open arms and a genuine smile.

In his free time, John enjoyed pursuing his hobbies with great enthusiasm. From playing practical jokes to learning new magic tricks, he found joy in simple pleasures and believed in bringing happiness to people's lives. His infectious laughter will forever echo in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to share in his joy.

John Gooden will be dearly missed by his loved ones, including his family, friends, and colleagues who were fortunate to have him in their lives. While our tears may flow freely, we will forever cherish the memories of his laughter and his genuine love for life.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 11:00 am in Amityville Cemetery, 55 Harrison Avenue, Amityville, NY 11701 under the direction of Unity Funeral Chapel, 1018 Prospect Avenue, Bronx, New York 10459.
