John George DeGrave RACINE – John George DeGrave, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital. John was born on September 17, 1929 in Racine, WI to Wilbur and Laura (nee George) DeGrave. John was married to Mary Rock on September 12, 1953. John was a construction superintendent at Nelson Construction for 28 years and at Riley Construction for 2 years, retiring in 1990. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951 – 1953 during the Korean Conflict. John enjoyed fishing and was an avid hunter —spending many seasons in the woods with his father and brothers. Since retirement, he enjoyed twelve winters in Davenport FL with his lovely wife Mary, golfing and relaxing. John will be dearly missed by his son, Patrick (Sue)DeGrave, brother and best friend, Joe DeGrave; grandchildren Bethany Leudtke, Nicole Kemen, Angela DeGrave, Michelle (Alex) Perez, and John Michael DeGrave, six great-grandchildren, nephews, one niece, and special friends: Judy and Dennis Weisbrod and Anna Mae Thomas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mary, his parents, his sons: John and Michael, brothers Wilbur (Ruth) and Raymond, nephew Billy DeGrave, and sister-in-law Joan DeGrave. A funeral mass will be held at St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church, 3126 95th St., Sturtevant on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the mass with Father Mark Jones officiating.
