JOHN 'JACK' JOSEPH FINN JR., 86 BATAVIA - John "Jack" Joseph Finn Jr. passed away on September 15, 2014, at the age of 86, after an extended illness in Batavia IL. Jack was born on May 26, 1928 in Freeport, IL to John Joseph and Rose Josephine Finn. He was united in marriage to Jeanne Pollock on May 6, 1950. While raising their family in Cedar Rapids, IA, Jack was employed at Rockwell Collins as an Avionics Engineer. Upon retirement they moved to Arizona where they shared their love for traveling that included adventures to Ireland, Germany, Spain and within the United States. They returned to DeWitt, IA in 2005 and moved to Batavia, IL in 2013. A passion for building and flying radio control airplanes began at age 12 and continued throughout his life. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; his children, Kevin Finn (Dian), Eden Prairie, MN, Kathleen "Casey" Clabby (Mike), St. Charles, Il, Kelly Shadle (Joe), Dewitt, IA, John Finn (Kristen), Urbandale, IA, Patrick Finn (Lisa), Marion, IA; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Craig, who died shortly after birth; and three sisters, Kathleen Byers, Rosemary Motsinger, and Marjorie Fuller. Jack was a devoted and loving husband and father. His strong Catholic faith guided him throughout his life. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to St Jude's Children's Hospital. Jack will be laid to rest on September 22, after a private service at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Batavia, IL and burial in Dewitt, Iowa. A Mass Intention will be held at the 4:30 p.m. Mass at St Joseph's Catholic Church in DeWitt, IA on October 11th. An Irish Blessing - Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
