DOVER TWSP. - Age 94, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the same home he was born in. John was born on October 25, 1918 to Edward L. and Mary (nee Willey) Rowntree. He spent his entire life on the family farm. John was a graduate of Burlington High School, class of 1936, and attended UW-Madison College of Agriculture. On March 16, 1946 at North Lima Presbyterian Church, John was united in marriage to Ann Kyle. John was a farmer and a member of Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ. He was also a member of the Burlington Rotary Club, the Farm Bureau, the Bank of Burlington Board of Directors and the Rochester Cemetery Board. Survivors include his loving wife of 66 1/2 years, Ann, their children; David (Arlene) Rowntree of Union Grove, Mary (Andy) Currie of Waunakee, Ruth (Greg) Reinhart of College Station, TX, Tom (Kay) Rowntree of Waterford and Paul (Toni) Rowntree of Kansasville, grandchildren; Jean (Patrick) Uhlenhake, Andrew (Kristin) Rowntree, Karen Rowntree, Sue Rowntree, Jonathan (Julia) Currie, Robert Currie, Katie Reinhart, Tim Reinhart, Scott Rowntree, Bryan Rowntree, Kyle Rowntree, Matthew Rowntree and Christina Rowntree and great-grandchildren; Lydia and Margaret Rowntree and Benjamin Currie. John is further survived by a sister, Ruth Forhan of Kirkland, WA, sister-in-law, Maryanna Allabough of Evanston, IL nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and by brothers; Herbert and Robert Rowntree. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 23, 2012 at 7:00 PM at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Wang officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home on Friday, from 4:00 PM until the time of service. Private interment will take place at Rochester Cemetery. Memorials have been suggested to Plymouth Congregational Church, the Burlington Rotary Club or to Love Inc.
