John Cyril BarkerWWII Navy Veteran TEWKSBURY -- John Cyril Barker, a veteran of WWII, died Nov. 9th, at his home in Tewksbury, Mass., at the age of 93.He was born in Lowell and lived in North Tewksbury his entire life.John was the son of Cyril L. Barker and Jane (Boy) Barker, born on Nov 13, 1922.He had one older brother, Gerald and a younger sister, Gwen.John married his sweetheart, Ruth Harriet Loynes of Centralville, Lowell on June 19, 1948.He is survived by their three sons, Steven J. Barker (Rita) of Roseville, California; Robert A. Barker (Sally) of Berlin, Mass.; and David G. Barker (Brenda) of Pepperell, Mass..Proudly serving in the Navy overseas on Iwo Jima as part of CASU 52 working as an Aviation Machinist Mate. John worked for AT&T for 38 years as a PBX Installer retiring in June 1984. He enjoyed both his working years and years of retirement and will always be remembered as a "great guy." He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.BARKER -- John C. Calling hours will be Monday, Nov. 14, from 4-8 p.m., at Farmer and Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury.
