Joe T. Mascarenas, 82, longtime resident of Morphy Canyon, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at his home.He was born on May 13, 1934, in Morphy Canyon to Evangelino Mascarenas and Barbarita Martinez.He was a member of the United States Air Force and worked for the U.S. Navy as a Civilian Technician.He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Trinie Mascarenas.He is survived by his sons, Robert Olivas and Roland Mascarenas; daughter, Barbara Bernatz and husband, David; brothers, Pete Mascarenas and Sam Mascarenas; sisters, Theresa Aragon and Lucille Mascarenas; grandchildren, Marino Olivas and wife, Janel, Lori Olivas, Alexandra and Shannon Bernatz; great-grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Deprise and Chanelle Olivas.Rosary services were held at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the St. Gertrude Church in Mora.
