Mr. Joe Nathan Pettiford, age sixty-nine, departed his earthly life and entered into eternal rest early Wednesday morning, December 10, 2025 at his residence in Ringgold, Virginia. He was born in Person County May 24, 1956 to the late Earlie Pettiford and Celia Bumpass Pettiford and a member of the Church of God in Christ Jesus in Roxboro.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ella Pettiford; and siblings:
Charles Pettiford, Kevin Pettiford, Linwood Pettiford, Earl Thomas Pettiford, Christine Pettiford Paylor and Ruth Pettiford Burton.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his children: Brandy Majors (Daniel) of Ringgold, Virginia and Terese Jacobs of Timberlake, North Carolina; grandchildren:
LaTriskia Jacobs of Durham, North Carolina, Quentarah Royster of Roxboro, North Carolina, Iyanla Barnett of Timberlake, Daniel Majors, Josiah Majors and Christyanna Majors, all of Ringgold and Tyrese Blackwell of Timberlake; great-grandchildren: Tyanna Worth and JaiKayla Young, both of Durham, Ellianna Outlaw and Kamryn Outlaw, both of Roxboro, Kayson Coleman of Durham and Madison Lowery of Ringgold; siblings: John Pettiford (Connie) of Green Level, North Carolina, Michael Pettiford (Ann) of Durham and Frances Pettiford of Roxboro; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held Saturday , December 20th, 2025 at 2:00pm at the Church of God in Christ Jesus, 915 Allie Clay Road, Roxboro, North Carolina 27573, with Chief Apostle Timothy Black, Pastor at the Church of God in Christ New Deal, Durham, North Carolina, providing the eulogy. Visitation will also be at the church from 1:00pm to 2:00pm when his body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service.
At other times, the family will receive visitors at the home of his daughter, 102 Willow Court in Ringgold, Virginia 24586.
