Joann Swan, a beloved resident of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, passed away on May 1, 2023, at the age of 73. She was born on January 3, 1950, to Theresa and William Swan in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Joann was a graduate of Florida State University, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Education. She went on to become a dedicated and much-loved teacher in the Broward County school district for over 30 years, teaching elementary and middle school students. Joann was known for her warm smile, her passion for education, and her unwavering dedication to her students.
Outside of her work in the classroom, Joann was actively involved in her community. She volunteered for numerous local organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club and the American Red Cross. Joann was also an active member of the Fort Lauderdale Lion's Club, where she served as President for several years.
Joann had a love for travel and adventure. She enjoyed exploring new places and experiencing different cultures. Some of her favorite trips included visiting Europe, Asia, and Australia. Joann was an avid reader and could often be found with a book in hand. She was also a talented cook, known for her delicious homemade meals and baked goods.
Joann will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and community. She is survived by her sister, Denise Swan, her nieces, Lisa and Sarah, and their families. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit will live on through the lives of those she touched.
A memorial service to celebrate Joann's life will be held on May 7, 2023, at 2 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Fort Lauderdale.
