This obituary is administered by:
JoAnn HeadSweetwater, TXJoAnn Head of Sweetwater, passed away at the age of 80 on Friday May 5, 2017 at ARMC in Abilene due to respiratory failure. Mrs. Head was born on February 28, 1937 in Jones County, Texas. JoAnn attended school in Stamford Texas and graduated nursing school from TSTI in Sweetwater. She was a nurse for approximately 38 years and in that time-span she worked on the hospital floor in various therapeutic areas as well as the radiology department toward the end of her nursing career. JoAnn married C.W. Head on July 28, 1967 in Sweetwater. She dearly loved her husband C.W., step kids, her children, entire family, and large circle of friends. She was very supportive of all the kid's activities, from sports, to social activities, to the rodeo circuit. JoAnn had a huge heart and loved all animals. JoAnn's love for horses and rodeo started as a young child. Never afraid to ride a green horse, she trained several on barrels, poles, and other events for her daughter Kelly as well as other barrel racers. She would also keep horses exercised and ready to perform in between rodeos. JoAnn was the Dallas Cowboy's #1 fan, always wearing her favorite Cowboy's t-shirt every Sunday. She attended many of the Cowboy games at Texas Stadium with her best friend Glenda Williams who preceded her in death. After JoAnn and C.W. retired they enjoyed traveling with family and friends and never passed up a chance to go to a casino. Although neither ever hit "the big one", the time they spent together was priceless. Family and friends would say the road trip never got started until JoAnn sang, "One the Road Again". Survivors include Daughters Shanna Zelner and husband Randy of Seminole; Kelly Espinoza and husband Raul of Abilene; Step-Daughters Doris Harvey and husband Sam of Sweetwater; Sherene Templet and husband Warren of Roby; Celia Rasberry and husband Freddie of Roby; Step-Sons Winfred Head and wife Bonnie of Granbury; Teddy Head and wife Shelley of Victoria; Kenny Head of Abilene; Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
