Joan Catherine Weiser 1931 - 2016 Joan Catherine Weiser (Theres) died in her home on Oct. 7, 2016. She was 85. Joan was born on July 16, 1931, in Racine, Wis., to her parents Harry and Genevieve Theres. She was an elementary teacher in Racine, Wis. She married Al Weiser June 5, 1954. Together, she and her husband of 63 wonderful years, built and operated the Surf Bowl in Racine until 1976 when they moved to Hayward, Wis., and operated Weiser's Landing Resort on Nelson Lake. Joan is survived by her husband Al; son, Stanley Weiser and his wife, Christine, of Brainerd, Minn.; daughter, Jill Peterson and her husband, Gregory, of Hayward, Wis.; four grandchildren, Brandon Czub, Cory Peterson, Austin Weiser and Brett Weiser; and her sister, Jackie Strauble, of Racine, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Norm Theres of Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Joan at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hayward at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 14. There will be a one hour visitation prior to the Mass for all friends and family. The family is grateful for prayers and condolences in lieu of flowers.
