Behringer, Joan R.Joan R. Behringer passed away peacefully on November 3, 2016 after a wonderful life filled with family, friends, and fun. Joan was born on June 17th, 1931 in Two Rivers WI, daughter of the late Martin & Adele Greenwood. Joan graduated from Washington High School in Two Rivers and attended Marquette University. She married Robert J. Behringer on June 27th, 1951 in Two Rivers. Joan and Bob spent time in San Antonio, Texas; Selma, Alabama; Tampa, Florida; and Bloomington, Minnesota. They spent the greater part of their lives together in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. Her greatest pleasure in life was being a mother. She was, above all, a wonderful mother to her five children, and was "mom" to countless of her children's friends. She made us all feel special. Few things gave her more pleasure than to have her family home together, celebrating the holidays with friends, love, and laughter. She made our home an inviting warm place where people wanted to be. Whether it was a bowl of chili or a kind smile with a listening ear, she was always there for us. And, if our friends were really lucky, they were invited to stay and play some cards. Her kindness and love only grew over the years as it extended to her children's partners and her grandchildren. Her grandchildren considered Joan to be one of the most compassionate and fun loving person in their life. Going to Grandma's house was always a highlight of their week as well as hers. She will be remembered for her open ability to give. Whether it was a compliment, a homemade cookie, that amazing love or just that big beautiful smile, she was always a giving person.Active in the community, Joan volunteered her time with the Junior Service League and Lady Elks Auxiliary. She could often be found at the Manitowoc YMCA playing tennis and racquetball, or running, and was a member of the 500 Mile Club. She also played in numerous Manitowoc County golf leagues, enjoying golf into her 80's, and loved playing Bridge with many local Bridge clubs. Her surviving family members include: son Scott Behringer and his wife Shelly, children Raven and Ian, Manitowoc, WI; daughter Chris Behringer and husband Ron Purvis, Minneapolis, MN; son Robert E. Behringer Two Rivers, WI, child Zachary Behringer and his wife Nicki, DePere, WI; son David Behringer and Sharon Brauer, Minneapolis, MN; and daughter Kelly and husband Ian Barringer, children Leo and Angus, Boulder, CO.Brother and sisters include: brother John Greenwood and wife Jean, Fountain Hills, AZ; sister Ann Carter, Palm Desert, CA; and sister Mary Williams and husband Mark, Morrison, CO.
