It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Joan Black on Monday, December 8, 2025, at the age of 87.

Joan was a devoted mother to Nancy (Brent Doherty) and the late Cynthia Hunter (Bryan Fevrier). She was a loving grandmother to Jennifer Doherty, Christopher Doherty, Curtis Doherty, Jarrett Hunter-Fevrier, and Jordan Hunter-Fevrier. Her legacy continues through her cherished great-grandchildren, Grayson Girard and Kaylie Girard.

Joan will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Ottawa Heart Institute, or the Ottawa Humane Society in Joan’s honor.
