LAURINBURG — Jerry Wayne Norton, 57, passed away on April 29, 2016 after a long illness.

Jerry was born on Dec. 29, 1958 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, son of the late Archie Paul Norton and Sophia Graham Norton Sanderson. He was a self-employed painter and an all around Mr. Fixit. His home church was Laurinburg Pentecostal Holiness Church since he was a small boy. He loved animals, spending time and fishing with his brother and best friend Ronnie and he also enjoyed singing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Ronnie Norton.

Surviving are his wife Barbara Norton of Laurinburg, children Chris Norton of Blairsville, Pennsylvania, Stacie Norton of Newport, April Martin (David) of Laurel Hill, Joshua Norton of Raleigh, and Jessica Norton of Raleigh, stepdaughter Billie Connell of Laurinburg, sister Vanessa Strickland (Alex) of Pembroke, nieces, Sha Blackwell (Chris) and Brandy Norton (Kimberly), nephew Joeie Giddens (Tina), 11 grandchildren: Barbara, Hunter, Kendriana, Jaylyn, Keith, Tyler, Zeke, Logan, Dakota, Connor, Bella, and Austin, great-grandchild Lucy, and his beloved pets Abby and Kimbo.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be at 3 p.m. on Monday at the Laurinburg Pentecostal Holiness Church officiated by G.W. Wilson. Interment will follow in Laurinburg Memorial Park.
