Graveside services for Jerry Mac Musick, 83, of Alamosa St., will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Carlsbad Cemetery (new section). Pastor Dick Means of Cavern Baptist Church will officiate. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. on Thursday at West Funeral Home. Services have been entrusted to West Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed at westfuneralhomellc.comJerry Mac Musick was born on October 3, 1933 in Parker County, Texas to Dale Sinclair "Doc" and Wilma Gladys (Mathews) Musick. He grew up in East Texas and graduated from Gaston High School. He graduated from the University of Texas (Austin) after spending 2 years in the Army stationed in Germany. He was married to Barbara J. (Tutt) Musick from December 20, 1958 until her death in December of 1990. He married Carol Cunningham on January 1, 1995. Jerry was in the insurance business for 40 years, working for various companies. In 1982, he moved to Carlsbad to work at Dunagan Associates. He worked there until his retirement in 1999. Jerry was actively involved in many organizations including Crime Stoppers, Camp Fire, American Legion, CARS Club and Shorthorn Little League. He loved his old cars and going to coffee with his friends. Most of all he loved his 3 grandkids and was very proud of each of them. He would talk to Cody about his racing, debate with Zachary whether the Longhorns or Red Raiders were the better team and discuss basketball with Kaylee. Jerry passed away at home on April 18, 2017 after a short illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara, daughter Lisa Lynn and sister Betsy Grandstaff.Survivors include his wife Carol; sons: Randy (Amanda) Musick and Steve (Yvette) Musick, all of Lubbock, TX; daughter LeighAnn (Wim) Dons of Rio Rancho, NM; stepson Jamey (Anna) Drake of Fallbrook, CA; sister Kathy Wood of Houston, TX and his beloved grandchildren: Cody Dons, Zachary Musick and Kaylee Dons. In lieu of flowers the family requests a memorial contribution to Noah's Ark Animal Shelter.
